considering abortion?
WHAT ARE YOUR OPTIONS?
If you recently found out you are pregnant and are considering an abortion, it is important to make an informed decision. Learn about the different types of procedures, as well as the risks associated with each type before making your appointment. As with any major decision, it will benefit you to gather and consider as many facts as possible before making your final choice.
The advocates at the Lighthouse Pregnancy Center can provide you with the information you will need in an open, objective manner, and will remain available to answer any additional questions you have before, during, and after abortion.
THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ABORTION:
There are two primary methods of abortion: a surgical procedure and a medical procedure. The surgical procedure is performed in a medical clinic, while the medical procedure can be started in the medical clinic and completed at home. A medical procedure is commonly referred to as the abortion pill. Which method you require depends on how far along you are in your pregnancy. An ultrasound is a procedure that allows you to find out how far along your pregnancy is and confirm a positive pregnancy test.
A surgical procedure is used to terminate a pregnancy in the first, second, or third trimester. The medical procedure, taken orally, can be performed until you are 70 days pregnant. As with any medical procedure, both types of abortion procedures come with risks. Therefore, you will need to make sure that you have given yourself the proper time to evaluate all of those factors before reaching your final decision.
If you are considering an abortion, please contact the Lighthouse Pregnancy Center today. We do not perform or refer for abortions, but our staff and volunteers provide a safe space to hear your story, talk with you about your options, and help answer your questions.
